Slovak Film Heritage

Slovak films have been an integral part of our culture for several decades and are therefore, in a way, our heritage and memory. Directors such as Štefan Uher, Juraj Jakubisko, Dušan Hanák, Elo Havetta and many others were crucial to the formation of the Czechoslovak New Wave and the works that later followed it. This collection, composed of films newly restored by the Slovak Film Institute, thus offers both a quite comprehensive and diverse introduction to the cinema of our closest neighbour and a quite possible addition to the context of the domestic film tradition. Above all, however, more than twenty remarkable films by exceptional filmmakers.
