About
Many of the male authors' accounts are at least as insightful about the female world as the female authors themselves. The director Dušan Hanák also entered the territory of Slovak women's cinema by thematizing women, especially with his projects Tichá radost / Silent Joy (1985) and Súkromné životy / Private Lives (1990). Hanák's women in most of his films hide in their not very stable, small, closed worlds. They quietly defend themselves and exclude men from their proximity, through whom they become too vulnerable.
