An old countryman is looking for a prefabricated house in a sprawling Prague housing estate to live in with his daughter's family. Most of the people have already moved in, but the streets and houses are not yet marked. Even the sidewalks have not been built, so people have to wade through mud on the giant construction site. The kindly grandfather is just one of hundreds or even thousands of people who are living their small or bigger everyday dramas in this confusion: six-year-old Pepiček has run away from kindergarten to meet his father for the first time, the members of the building committee refuse to accept the new flats with many defects, the young girl Sonia is – at least for a while – looking forward to her future role as a mother. And an old lady is watching everything from behind the window, but she may be dead…
