About

In another acclaimed music documentary, Oscar-winning director Ron Howard takes a look at the fascinating life of the legendary Italian tenor. Using rare archive footage and interviews with friends and family, Howard delves into Luciano Pavarotti’s personal realm and his more than fifty-year career as the “King of the High Cs.” The director looks at the singer’s role in popularizing opera but also includes controversial moments from his private life. “I love characters and I’m fascinated by the way high achievers in particular are tested and challenged,” says Howard. “With Pavarotti my question was: where did this tremendous artistry come from? It doesn’t only come from the remarkable voice. It has to come from the heart. That’s the only way you can create performances so true that they resonate forever.”
