This documentary film covers Clapton’s early childhood, including the trauma of his mother leaving him to be raised by his grandparents, and his career, which consisted of “a single-minded mission to raise the profile of the blues in popular culture”. The film does not shy away from Clapton’s tra­gedies, including his infatuation with Patti Boyd, then the wife of his best friend George Harrison, his struggles with drugs and alcoholism, and the death of his four-year old son Conor.
