About

Two young women, both called Marie, decide to take the radical step to be as rotten as the world around them. Traditional morals take a beating in Věra Chytilová’s critical-philosophical experimental film, as does the male world that is subjected to the rebellion of her hedonistic female duo. Even more than fifty years later, this key work of the Czechoslovak New Wave has lost none of its biting provocativeness. Its impudent abandon comes to life on the big screen thanks not only to the creative spirit of the film’s legendary but also thanks to a newly restored version.
