About

Allan Karlsson is 100 years old. The retirement home where he spends his remaining time is planning a big birthday party for him. But the vital old man doesn't want to stay in his armchair just yet. He has other plans. He decides to escape. After climbing out of a window, he embarks on an amazing and totally unpredictable trip… Coincidentally, he gets his hands on a suitcase full of money. Before he knows it, he has a gang of criminals on his tail, a dead body turns up here and there, and a very bulky elephant is among the companions he picks up along the way. On top of that, of course, the police force, led by the not-so-capable commissioner, is looking for him. It would be the adventure of a lifetime for anyone else, but Allan has plenty of experience in this sort of thing. Although he has never been interested in politics, he has unwittingly been a major player in many important events of the 20th century. He unwittingly participated in the invention of the atomic bomb, became good friends with several American presidents, and his other „acquaintances“ in his life's journey have included Stalin, Churchill, Mao Tse-tung, and Kim Il-sung.
