Šimon Holý for KVIFF.TV: Colour sparks a variety of opinions.
Czech director and musician Šimon Holý was in the running in East of the West
competition at 55th KVIFF with his debut Mirrors in the Dark. Holý, who is the
film’s director, producer, music composer and producer in one, says its plot
was inspired by a real event in his own personal life. He also explains why he
opted to film in black and white, why he was so sure his lead actress was right
for the part and why a story set in the world of dance contains references to
female heroines from stage dramas.
