When Magda (Penélope Cruz) is struck by several tragedies in a short period
of time, it doesn't bring her to her knees. Instead, she gains a new enthusiasm
for life and realises the importance of her relationships with those closest to
her – her ten-year-old son and the new man who suddenly enters her life (Luis
Tosar).
This drama by Julio Medem, one of the most outstanding Spanish filmmakers of our
time, shows Magda as a strong and loving woman who can take things in her stride
even in the most difficult moments.
