Charming tale of a 13-year-old witch named Kiki, who sets out into the world for an experience. As tradition dictates, any girl gifted with magic at this age must leave home for another town and prove that she can take care of herself with the help of magic. So Kiki, along with her black cat, Jiji, moves to a seaside town where, with the help of her new friends, she finds the perfect job. Thanks to her ability to fly a broom, she opens a delivery service. As is typical of Studio Ghibli productions, the fantasy themes are harmoniously embedded in the everyday, civilian world. Alongside the sun-drenched seaside town with its captivating, summer-sleepy atmosphere, the film materialises another of the director's typical motifs, which is his admiration for flying.
