Picturesque lakeside cruising spot for gay men. Franck enjoys spending summer afternoons here, swimming and meeting other men. He befriends the solitary Henri, but during brief conversations he is unable to take his eyes off Michel, a stranger with a perfect body and an alluring moustache. When Franck catches Michel in a horrific act one night, instead of reporting it to the police, he is drawn even more strongly to Michel by a mixture of paralyzing fear and irrepressible passion. Franck must satisfy his desire at all costs. The men fall into a passionate affair that is as dangerous as it is exciting. Alan Guiraudie skillfully creates a suffocating atmosphere of breathtaking suspense and deservedly won the Un Certain Regard award at Cannes for his assured direction of his mesmerizing, sexually explicit thriller.
