Fugue
Alicja doesn't remember her own past, but has managed to build a new life with a new identity. When her original family finds her, she doesn't want her old life back until shards of memories start to surface. Gradually, her new and original identities merge into one and a disturbing discovery about herself comes to light.
An unknown woman suffering from memory loss turns up one day at Warsaw’s main station. A couple of years later, going by the name of Alicja, she is recognised on TV and goes back to her family. But will she be able to relate to people, now complete strangers, who were once close to her? After her internationally successful debut The Lure, which betrays an original approach to blending the musical, fairy-tale and horror genres, Polish director Agnieszka Smoczyńska offers up an atmospheric psychological drama inspired by real events. The film is dominated by a focused performance from Gabriela Muskała, who also wrote the screenplay, while the dense mood is fuelled by minimalist music from Filip Míšek.
