The Georgian main competition picture Citizen Saint follows what happens in a mining community when a figure from a religious statue “returns” as a mysterious, living man. In an interview, its director Tinatin Kajrishvili discusses how religious her nation is, cinematic inspirations for the film – and the neighbourhood “live saint” who helped inspire it.
