Shawkat Amin Korki to KVIFF.TV: We have strong women in Kurdistan.
The first ever film from Kurdistan in the Crystal Globe competition, the social
drama The Exam, got its world premiere at the Grand Hall at Thermal on 55th
KVIFF, when it was presented by a delegation headed by director Shawkat Amin
Korki. In an interview, he explains why university exams are such crucially
important matters in his part of the world, how the film spotlights
women’s rights, and conditions for filmmaking in Kurdistan today.
