Concerned Citizen

Ben and Raz's life together looks like something out of a catalog. A harmonious relationship with plans to start a family, a beautiful apartment in an up-and-coming Tel Aviv neighborhood, a smoothie for breakfast every morning. But the reality around them is not at all as rosy as it might seem from the balcony. One day, Ben calls the police on a man who is leaning on a tree in the street that the hero planted with his own hands. But instead of being admonished, Ben witnesses unwarranted and racially motivated police brutality. The incident leaves him with a strong sense of guilt. Can he deal with him without acknowledging his privileged position as a secure gay white man? A complex picture moving on the edge of black comedy, melodrama and socially critical appeal opens up unpleasant but serious questions of social responsibility, gentrification of public space and the sustainability of liberalism. The film was nominated for a Teddy Award at the Berlinale festival.
