Debut director Annick Blanc’s psychedelic horror presents hunting as a phenomenon that is equal parts toxic and intoxicating. Five men on a hunting expedition in the Canadian woods encounter a young woman in trouble, who begs them to let her join them. They agree on the condition that she become a part of their pack and agree to all its rules. A hallucinatory, menacing, and simultaneously caustically ironic trip through the rocky terrain of archetypal machismo amidst a ruthless and unpredictable wilderness, Hunting Daze flows steadily between fever dream and a disillusioned awakening to harsh reality.
