There is no sound on the court except the bouncing of tennis balls. The heavy atmosphere and the absence of one of the head coaches is a clear sign to the junior players that something serious has happened. An investigation is soon set in motion, but the club’s rising star Julie, who was closest to the coach, remains silent. Julie Keeps Quiet is the debut film of Belgian director Leonardo Van Dijl, whose steady hand has managed to get masterful performances out of his young tennis players. With famous tennis star Naomi Ósaka as a consultant, this understated but powerful film tackles a painful subject in a manner where any attempt at dialogue is drowned in silence.
