Abiding Nowhere (trailer)

Can we see time if we slow it down? The concept of “mindfulness” became synonymous with human happiness only recently, while Tsai Ming-liang has been leading us towards a closer awareness of the world for years. The tenth in his series of films about a Buddhist monk walking extremely slowly across rural and urban landscapes, is set in Washington, DC. On this occasion, the figure of a second man moves through similar locations. The two solitary journeys might conceivably intersect yet, to attain solidarity, the mere knowledge of a parallel existence would surely also suffice… A well-rounded film meditation, in which the Taiwanese master of radically slow cinema heightens the senses so as to enrich and colour our upcoming festival days.
