Master Class with Christine Vachon

Christine Vachon, producer of legendary American indie films (e.g. Todd Haynes'
Poison and Far from Heaven , Kimberly Pierce's Oscar-winning drama Boys Don't
Cry, Larry Clark's Kids and Todd Solondz's Happiness ) is one of the few
producers who have always chosen the indie cinema route. In this KVIFF Talk,
host Mike Fleming (DEADLINE) and Christine discussed not only her career
crossroads and rich filmography, but also raise the question of the future of
independent film. Does Christine Vachon, as a matador and legend of indie
cinema, predicts its future existence on streaming platforms, in the niche of
film festivals and art cinemas, or is there another way altogether?
The 57th Karlovy Vary IFF screened two of Christine Vachon's films: the
romantic drama Past Lives directed by Celine Song and by Emma
Westenberg's roadmovie You Sing Loud, I Sing Louder starring the charismatic
duo of Ewan McGregor and his daughter Clara McGregor.
