Etero is an independent woman approaching her fifties, who runs her own shop in a remote village. Her married girlfriends, for whom family is everything, regard her with an air of superiority; Etero, however, cherishes her freedom above all else. One day she is out picking blackberries and has an accident which almost kills her, yet this near-death experience awakens in her a desire she has never felt before.
