The director Gábor Reisz introduced his film Explanation for Everything, part of the Horizons section, at the 58th Karlovy Vary IFF. The picture employs a story centred on secondary school leaving exams to explore the divided nature of Hungarian society, where it doesn’t take much to spark conflict. In an interview, the filmmaker discusses the real-life situations that inspired the film, and the response it has garnered in his native country.
