About
Leo Popper, an agent of the Elektrolux company, spends beautiful moments with his family in the cottage of the ferryman Prošek on the banks of the Berounka River. Their lives are dramatically interrupted by the beginning of the war. Popper's cheerful spirit changes under the pressure of the times, but his vitality fully emerges during the occupation, when, almost under the eyes of the Germans, he fishes out his former pond and, at the risk of his life, procures venison so that his two children have a chance to survive the concentration camp.
