Ester Krumbachová was a hidden but crucial figure of the Czechoslovak New Wave. As a costume and set designer or co-writer of scripts, she had a major influence on some of the movement's defining films and left an indelible imprint on them. She was also one of those who were soon banned from making films altogether by the Communist regime.
