Film Tips from Theodora Remundová
Actress and documentary director Theodora Remundová, the author of the film portrait of her mother Iva Janžurová Actress, recommends three films that our viewers should definitely not miss.
The Hunt – Thomas
Vinterberg's film is a precise psychological drama unleashed by a child's lie.
With the protagonist, played by the charismatic Mads Mikkelsen, I experienced
his inability to stand up to serious suspicion, his growing helplessness, and at
the same time I understood why all this awakens unscrupulous social mechanisms
in his environment. Could there be some distant inspiration from ancient
tragedy, in which the hero usually finds himself in intractable conflict with
his own fate?
Searching for Sugar
Man – Rodriguez's music is a revelation. And his story, in its
shimmering brilliance, resembles the legends of the saints, even though it is
set in the 20th century. An encounter experience that touches everyone.
Dogman – Marcello Fonte plays
Marcello, the owner of a “salon” for dogs in an Italian suburb. His salon is
home to all kinds and breeds of woofers. Marcello is not a born winner, but in
the end he decides to fight for his dignity. And the filmmaker, Matteo Garrone,
is a great contemporary Italian director, and it's also evident in the
beautiful but unobtrusive imagery in this film that he originally studied
fine art.
