Renowned symbologist Robert Landgon (Tom Hanks) is called to the Louvre one night to investigate the murder of the local caretaker, who has left behind many mystical clues and symbols. With the help of police cryptologist Sophie Neveu (Audrey Tautou), he begins to uncover a series of astonishing secrets hidden in the works of Leonardo da Vinci that lead inevitably to an ancient organization dedicated to guarding a 2,000-year-old secret. A pair of adventurers embark on a thrilling journey across Paris, London and Scotland as they desperately try to crack a mysterious cipher and get to the bottom of secrets that could shake the very foundations of human existence.
