About

Julius Schmitke is a fifty-seven-yearold German engineer. He feels ill and his body creaks, crunches and groans with age. One day he is sent somewhere to the Czech side of the Ore Mountains to repair one of his old models, a C 174 turbine that, mysteriously, will not stop creaking and squeaking. That, of course, is not the only mystery that awaits him in the Ore Mountains. The more that Julius wanders around the harsh and misty mountains, the more he is surprised that this entire expedition to this ominous and unknown jungle is starting to seem to be a return to old, familiar places to which he once belonged, long ago…
