About

The Italian Renaissance gave the art world a number of important and still impressive works of art and names. Although the painter Pietro Perugino stands somewhat in the shadow of his more famous contemporaries and students, he is extremely important for the development of art of the period and his frescoes can be found, for example, on the walls of the Sistine Chapel in Rome. The documentary had its world premiere in the year that marks the 500th anniversary of the artist's death. It commemorates his legacy and influence – he was the teacher of greats such as Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo and Raffaelo.

Italian actor Marco Bocci guides the story of this extraordinary artist of his time and, together with the cinema audience, allows himself to be enchanted by the works of the Italian Renaissance in details not normally seen in galleries. A number of historians speak on the subject and a plastic image of the life of an immensely gifted man and his time is created in front of the viewer. The documentary is directed by Giovanni Piscaglia, who has previously directed films about Vincent Van Gogh and explored the relationship between the Emperor Napoleon and art.
