About

Seeking to recover from a personal tragedy, Harper has rented a small house for herself in the picturesque British countryside. The perfect place for rest and relaxation – except that this is a midnight movie we’re talking about and a comforting peace is the last thing the surrounding forests and the deranged villagers have in store for lonely visitors. In this atmospheric nightmare mix of folk horror and body horror, English director (Ex Machina) and screenwriter (Dredd, Sunshine, 28 Days Later) Alex Garland makes inventive use of symbolic language and carefully dosed humor while nevertheless appealing to thoughtful viewers who might otherwise turn up their noses at the usual rural fright-fest.
