Love Lies Bleeding
Lou, the manager of a gym in New Mexico, falls head over heels for the bodybuilder Jackie, who is passing through town on her way to a competition in Las Vegas. But their relationship begins to clash with Jackie’s ambition to lift heavy weights and with the cloud of gunpowder surrounding Lou’s father, an arms dealer Lou used to work for. Director Rose Glass has shot a neo-noir love story on steroids that constantly reminds its audience that one bite whets the appetite and that jealousy knows no limits. The excellent Kristen Stewart has made a splash as the reclusive Lou at the Sundance and Berlinale film festivals.
