About

Dean, his wife Lisa and their nine-year-old son Jesse live in Seattle as one of many typical American families. But only until the day Lama Norbu and his companion Champa from the Buddhist kingdom of Bhutan arrive at their house. The surprised couple learn from them that their little Jesse should be the reincarnation of one of their most revered lamas. The Konrads eventually accept an invitation to travel to the Himalayas for a few weeks. The journey through Bhutan and Kathmandu is not only a transition from modern American culture to the culture of Eastern nations, but also a journey back in time two thousand years to the beginning of Buddhism. It is the world of Prince Siddhartha, who left his magnificent palace and his wealth to experience the pain of suffering, to understand the impermanence of life, and to achieve liberation of mind. The purity and innocence of this young prince eventually led to his declaration as a Buddha.
