Here he meets Phillip Morris (Ewan McGregor), with whom he falls head over heels in love… Inspired by a true story. The real Steven Jay Russell became famous for his many bizarre prison breaks, which he always carried out on Friday the 13th. He has posed as a judge, a doctor, a janitor… In one escape he robbed a bank, faked a heart attack when he was arrested, and claimed to have AIDS in the hospital… Another escape was successful when he dyed his prison uniform green and posed as a guard… His last escape was in 1998 and was followed by a sentence of 144 years behind bars. His IQ was measured at 169.
